At E3, Microsoft unveiled a revamped dashboard for the Xbox One that emphasized speed and community over the tile-based interface of the past. Now, at Gamescom, the company has revealed that the new user interface will be filtering down into your console this November. The biggest new feature of which is likely to be Cortana integration, and you can use Microsoft’s voice assistant to perform minor tasks — like recording the last minute of playback and sharing it — without breaking your concentration inside a game.
In addition to baking-in Microsoft’s little blue helper, the new dashboard offers one-click access to features like sharing and achievements. In addition, if you double-tap the Xbox logo, you’ll open up a new sub-menu that enables you to easily get at your notifications, messages, settings and friends. In addition, Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra has revealed that DVR functionality and that all future Games with Gold titles will backwards-compatible from launch.
